PSA Data Highlight Top Causes of Death in 2026: Early Detection Can Make a Difference

The latest figures from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) are a reminder that some of the country’s most serious health concerns remain conditions that can affect people long before symptoms become obvious.

Based on the PSA’s provisional data covering January to February 2026, ischaemic heart diseases recorded the highest number of deaths nationwide at 14,921. Pneumonia followed with 5,222 deaths, while cerebrovascular diseases accounted for 4,420. Neoplasms recorded 4,293 deaths, and diabetes mellitus had 2,795.

These numbers are more than statistics. They point to the importance of being proactive about one’s health.

Conditions involving the heart, blood vessels, blood sugar, and other aspects of the body can sometimes develop without noticeable warning signs. This is why regular health checks and appropriate diagnostic testing can play an important role in identifying potential health concerns early and giving patients and their doctors information they can act on.

At Meijia Diagnostic and Wellness Center, we encourage individuals to make health monitoring part of their routine—not something to consider only when they are already feeling unwell.

Through our diagnostic and laboratory services, Meijia aims to make reliable health information more accessible, helping patients and healthcare professionals make informed decisions about the next steps in care.

Early detection starts with knowing. And knowing starts with getting checked.

Take the proactive step today. Talk to your healthcare provider about the screenings and diagnostic tests appropriate for your age, health history, and risk factors.
